What art theft looks like by DeviantartAirForce What art theft looks like by DeviantartAirForce
This is a prime example of art theft. Thank you :iconairshipgirl: for the links and finding this info.

Did you notice on the bottom right hand picture that the project is called WildSpiritWolf? A bit of a coinsidence indeed!
The deviant RedMoonStudios has already been banned before the club was set up just to let you know.

Art (top left) copyright to WildSpiritWolf
Art (bottom left) copyright to RedrumWolf

not necessarily art theft since you can't copyright a pose.

np, like I said its not technically art theft but it is frowned down upon in the artist community. so its still pretty much a no- no

I would not call this art theft because they used the materials out there to create something new. Is that not the definition of creativity? and you want to put a stop to that?

These aren't theft example. They're reinterpretations.

I have to agree. The two wolves on the top aren't stolen. The poses are the same, but no one can copyright poses. They fur and styles are completely different.
The person at MOST would put in a reference to a picture that "INSPIRED" their picture.

that's lame. WildSpiritWolf vs. RedMoonStudios is not copyright. Other then the way the wolf is standing nothing is the same. The fur lines don't even mach.

i think the top one would be more of a "pose theft"
if they gave credit to the oringinal that would be fine, but i take it they didnt.. XD

Hm... Late comment is late, but... As far as I'm aware you can't copyright a pose or whatever, but don't hold that to me, as I'm not 100% sure. I'll have to ask someone who knows for sure.

I don't count either of these as art theft. They are merely copies, perhaps done because the artist liked the original, but couldn't do their own design. I see art theft as the unauthorized use of a direct copy of another's work, e.g. someone saving the art to their hard drive and using it elsewhere, claiming it as their own. These are just happy fans, probably.

On the subjet of reference? I use some peoples work as reference... I always ask first, and respect their wishes... sometimes ask if I can colour someone's lineart. my references are for colour or appearance, or if I like a pose I might ask if I can try imitating it. I've been told that it's fine as long as:
A) I give credit where credit is due, if I've couloured a lineart or imitated a pose.
b) Sometimes, for poses, they say I can only use it for practice and I can't post them.
c) Art used as reference remains private

I do all those things, since it is still their work. That's okay right?

This is not good having people steal other people's work. I'm verry happy that you are putting these types of things up so we can end art theft. Like I said before it's not right. I understand some people don't understand but that's okay if they don't understand. I fsomeone does it for the fun of it, then that's not right. :(

I think your friend got a new account ~Zanaffer-Oni and is still stealing art, sometimes uploading the same artwork that got her banned before.

she keeps tracing and/or copying, like these ones: [link] and [link] were heavily referenced/traced from my friend *Aki--Tenraku work here: [link] and [link]

And then she also banned me from commenting and hid my comment so it doesnt say its stolen.

Forgive me if i dont think much of your friend.

God, this is pathethic. And I hoped she had learned something. She has been banned seven times already (!KoutaOni, !KoutaSky, !DaviKevin, !FuyukiMiyako, !RedMoonStudios, !FlameWhiteWolf, !KoutasOni).

I'm "chasing" her and reporting her since her first account, but she keeps coming back. What is most annoying is that she thinks just because she doesn't trace over a drawing (that's she says, anyway), she can copy whatever she wants without even asking. Even if she had godly skills just by looking (which I highly doubt), that's still against our law. I've pasted the Brazilian copyright laws to her a hundred times, but I'm afraid she couldn't understand because she is too dumb (I'm serious).

This two images aren't the same....
Heavly reference? I dunno, but i don't think DA have something to say about it.
I don't remember any law about reference o-o
